Ben Carson Beats Donald Trump Again In National Poll

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson has pulled six points ahead of Donald Trump, according to a new national poll.

Carson received 29 percent support among Republican primary voters, as compared to Trump’s 23 percent in the new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, NBC News reports.

Trailing the two leaders with 11 percent is Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas is next with 10 percent, and former Florida governor Jeb Bush received 8 percent support from respondents.

It’s the first time since June that the poll has shown someone other than Trump in the lead, according to the Wall Street Journal.

And it’s the second time in a week that a national poll has put the former neurosurgeon ahead of his billionaire rival.

The New York Times/CBS News poll, released Oct. 27, had Carson at 26 percent support, with Trump at 22 percent. While the poll results were within the survey’s margin of error, they marked the first time Trump’s lead had faltered in a national poll, according to The New York Times.

The national polls follow news that Trump’s lead had slipped in Iowa, which will be the state to hold the first contest of the 2016 primary season when it holds it caucuses Feb. 1, 2016.

But, CNN reports, Trump still shows a strong lead in New Hampshire, according to a Monmouth University poll that has him at 26 percent support compared to Carson’s 16 percent. New Hampshire holds the first primary election of the season on Feb. 9.
