Chris Pratt might be known for starring in Hollywood blockbusters like “Guardians of the Galaxy,” but he proved this Easter that he’s not your typical movie star by carrying a giant cross up a hill and installing it at the top.
On the March 27 holiday, Pratt posted updates to his Instagram page documenting the process of erecting the Christian symbol. The 36-year-old movie star shared images of himself and two companions choosing a spot, making the long uphill trek with the cross in tow, and finally mounting it at the top of the hill.
But they could only carry the heavy item so far without needing a rest.
Once they reached the top, the men dug a hole, erected the cross, and secured it with cement.
“HAPPY EASTER!” Pratt captioned his final update, a photo of himself and two other men standing in front of the end result.
The message behind his holiday posts has resounded with many of his fans. Responses have been overwhelmingly positive.
“So refreshing for a celebrity to be a believer and proud of it!” Instagram user tanjdl2015 commented. “God bless you even more!! Thank you.”
User frauehrler voiced a similar sentiment, writing under Pratt’s picture that “it’s about time a celebrity is outspoken about their faith and isn't afraid to show it! Really powerful image."
Pratt has long been vocal about his Christian faith, which he says is integral to his daily life with his wife, actress Anna Faris, notes Q Political. When he and Faris had a son, Jack, who was born premature in August 2012, he said that the couple spent weeks praying by his side.
“We were scared for a long time,” Pratt explained, according to Q Political. “We prayed a lot. It restored my faith in God, not that it needed to be restored, but it really redefined it. The baby was so beautiful to us, and I look back at the photos of him and it must have been jarring for other people to come in and see him, but to us he was so beautiful and perfect.”
