Man Finds Unexpected Message Written On Last Kellogg's Cereal Ever Made In Canada (Photo)

A Canadian teacher discovered the very last box of Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes made in Canada when he sat down with his family for breakfast Monday morning.

Stephane Gaudette was a little nervous when he picked up a box of Frosted Flakes cereal marked with the words “Please read the bag” on the top.

Gaudette, a high school teacher from of Timmins, Ontario, opened the box of cereal and noticed something written on the inner bag.

“This is the very last bag of Canadian cereal for the Canadian market from Kellogg’s. London Ontario plant. Fri., Dec. 5, 2014,” the message read. The note was signed by three workers at the Kellogg’s factory in London, Ont., Mike Cascadden, Ray Gonsalvez and Frasier McAuley, all with more than 20 years of experience at the plant.

“When I saw the message, my emotions started changing,” Gaudette told CBC Radio. “It led to a certain sadness and awe, in a sense. It was a very odd feeling because I realized the significance of [the package].”

Gaudette chose not to open the bag of cereal and had toast that morning instead.

CBC Radio reached out to Cascadden and told the station what it was like working for Kellogg’s for 24 years:

I was a young man when I started there. I’m 47 now. I was taking under the wing of some pretty incredible guys. I want to see them again, but the reality is there’s 500 people there that I worked with and probably 99 percent of them, I won’t see again, so it’s emotional. I grew up with these guys.
