A Tennessee woman is under fire for attaching her 1-month-old daughter to the train of her wedding dress.

Shona Carter-Brooks decided that she wanted her daughter to be a part of the wedding, and while there were probably other options for the baby, she and her husband Johnathan Brooks decided that they would tie her to the train of her dress and drag her down the aisle.

Most attendees thought the decision to attach the baby to the wedding dress was tasteful and sweet, but once video and pictures surfaced online, Carter-Brooks received some harsh critcism. It did not seem to faze her, however, and she posted a Facebook status defending her choice.

“The answer is we do what we want when we want long as Jesus on our side everything worked out fine and gone continue to be fine,” said Carter-Brooks on her Facebook page. “Our 1 month old was awake and well secured on my train. Most important while yall got ya feelings in us we had our hearts in Christ which covers all!! So keep ya mouths running for it was just that Exclusive and Epic enough we made top blog way from small town Ripley, TN and the social media doing what they do, TALK!!!!”

While Carter-Brooks and her husband definitely received a lot of criticism, one friend who attended the wedding took to Facebook to defend and praise what the couple did with their newborn daughter.

“Shona and Johnathan Brooks your wedding was super perfect from the groom and his men and you and your diva’s baby you rock the gown and the princess tagging behind you it brought tears to my eyes,” wrote the friend. “Regardless of anybody else dream your’s came true. I loved it and thank you for inviting me.”

More power to this couple for their unusual way of including their baby in their special day, but let us seriously hope this does not become the next fashion trend.
