This Is The Text Message A Wife Got After Banning Her Husband's Dogs From The Bedroom

Pakistan politician Imran Khan, 62, reportedly divorced his wife, former BBC weather presenter Reham, 42, with a text message.

The couple were married 10 months and have both said publicly that they parted amicably in Pakistan, The Daily Mail reports.

A source told The Daily Mail that the couple's union officially ended with a text message sent by Imran to his wife that included the word ‘talaq”—meaning, “I divorce you” in Arabic. It was allegedly written three times in the text message and followed up with a brief email.

In Islam, a husband can say or write "talaq" to his wife three times in order to divorce her. it's called the "triple-talaq," but the legality of the action is often contested.

A call from Imran’s chief of staff was also allegedly made to Reham after she arrived by plane from Pakistan to Birmingham, United Kingdom, to confirm the divorce.

“I don’t think she would have left the house if she had any inkling that it was on the cards,” the source said.

A financial settlement is currently being negotiated between the couple.

The problems in their marriage reportedly began shortly after the wedding when Reham made changes to Imran’s household.

One major change was to ban his beloved dogs from his bedroom.

“They were no longer allowed to sleep in their master’s inner sanctum or even be there during the daytime,” a separate source told The Daily Mail. “Imran was upset when she had them shifted to a room outside the house and refused to budge despite his pleas.”

Changes were also made to who was accommodated at the home, with Reham’s family taking precedence.

“Then the house was re-arranged to suit the needs of Reham’s youngest daughter who lived there, as well as the elder daughter and son, who often visited,” the source added. “Members of Reham’s family pretty much came and went as they pleased. On the other hand, Imran Khan’s nephews and nieces were made to feel unwelcome.”

“Their home became a battleground because Reham was determined to control every aspect of Imran’s life,” a family insider said. “She made his life a living hell. The wonder is that things dragged on for as long as they did. They argued over his habit of sharing his bedroom with his dogs, and her jealousy over his continued close relationship with Jemima Goldsmith, his ex-wife and the mother of his two sons.”

Reham’s desire for a political career and the media’s focus on everything she did also reportedly caused problems in the marriage as it affected Imran’s career as Chairman of Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf political party.

“It reached the stage where Imran was facing open revolt from his financial backers and party faithful,” the family insider said. “He realized that the public obsession with what Reham was eating, cooking and wearing was deflecting from the political message. She was becoming bigger news than him.”

Imran took to Twitter to address the split.

“This is a painful time for me & Reham & our families. I would request everyone to respect our privacy,” Imran tweeted Oct. 30.

“I have the greatest respect for Reham’s moral character & her passion to work for & help the underprivileged,” a second tweet read.
