This Is The Truck That Has Served One Man Well For 38 Years (Photo)

Before retiring from Prinsburg Farmers Co-op this week, a Minnesota man got to reminisce about the 58-year-old car he purchased nearly four decades ago for $75 when he first started at the organization. The best part? He has driven it to the farm every single day since.

Bob Sportel of Prinsburg, Minnesota, says he purchased a rusty Chevrolet pickup for $75 back in his early 20s when he needed a car to get to work at the Prinsburg Farmers Co-op. This week, on the last day at his job of 38 years, Sportel drove that very same truck he’s been driving all these years without any issues.

“It kept going so I just kept driving it,” Sportel said of the 58-year-old truck. “If I could get four years out of it, I thought I'd be really happy.”

When Sportel purchased the vehicle all those years ago, the odometer was broken, but all in all, he believes the car has about 300,000 miles on it.

Sportel estimates that in the nearly 40 years he’s owned the car, he’s only spent about $1,000 on repairs. The most extravagant expense he’s had on the vehicle is the four oil changes per year.

Even though Sportel will no longer be working at the farm, he doesn’t plan to stop driving his Chevy any time soon.

“It just becomes a part of you,” he admitted. “I don’t know how to explain it.”
