O.J. Simpson, the former football star serving a prison sentence for a 2008 armed robbery and kidnapping conviction in Las Vegas, faced additional difficulties while incarcerated. Simpson, who was housed at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada, reportedly dealt with health issues during his imprisonment. Simpson had been sentenced to 33 years in prison with the possibility of parole after 9 years for the 2007 incident in which he and several accomplices confronted two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel room, attempting to recover items Simpson claimed were stolen from him. The case was widely seen as a proxy for the justice many felt was denied when Simpson was acquitted of the 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. Simpson would eventually be granted parole in July 2017 and released from prison in October of that year. He relocated to Las Vegas, where he lived until his death from cancer in April 2024.
